Welcome to part two of the Decolonizing Spirituality series. We're actually going to break down some of the modalities that I am certified in and personally use, EFT Tapping, Hypnosis and Reiki.
EFT Tapping
What is EFT Tapping?:
EFT Tapping is a therapy technique that is based on the Ancient Chinese techniques of acupuncture and acupressure. It uses the meridian lines in the body to eliminate physical, emotional and mental issues.
The History of EFT Tapping:
EFT Tapping finds its roots in Ancient Chinese Medicine, particularly in the realms of acupressure and acupuncture.
100BC - first documented use of acupuncture in The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine
1979 - Dr Callahan creates Thought Field Therapy (TFT)
1995 - Gary Craig realizes he could simplify the TFT technique and creates EFT
The True Names of the Tapping Points:
Side of the hand: S13 - Small Intestine 3, or Houxi - "Back Stream":
Referred to as the Karate Chop Point - DO NOT USE THIS TERM
Distal point for back/neck/shoulder pain & tensions.
Regulate SI channel & governing vessel.
Eyebrow: BL2 - Bladder 2, or Zanzhu - "Gathered Bamboo": Vision & sinus disorders.
Side of the Eye: GB1 - Gallbladder 1, or Tongziliao - "Pupil Crevice":
Vision, temporal/supraorbital pain & headaches.
Under the Eye: ST2 - Stomach 2, or Sibai - "Four Whites":
Vision, and local paralysis.
Under the Nose: GV26 - Governing Vessel 26 , or Renzhong - "Human Center":
Conscious, calms the spirit, psycho-emotional issues (SÅ«n SÄ« MiÇŽo Ghost Point), and acute lumbar sprain.
Chin: CV24 - Conception Vessel 24, or Chengjiang - "Container of Fluids";
Facial disorders, severe thirst, stiffness at nape of neck, and psycho-emotional disorders (Sun Si Miao Ghost Point).
Collarbone: KD27 - Kidney 27, or Shufu - "Shu Mansion":
Coughs with phlegm, chest pain, trouble breathing, rebellious Qì, and anxiety.
Under the Arm: SP21 - Spleen 21, or Dabao - "Great Wrapping":
Unbinds the chest, and supports limb weakness.
Top of the Head: GV20 - Governing Vessel 20, or Baihui - "One Hundred Meetings":
Descends wind & raises Yang. Treats the brain, heart, spirit, tinnitus, dizziness, difficulty concentrating, lethargy, palpitations, and severe depressive symptoms.

So what is it?!
It's a relaxed state + focused attention that allows us to speak directly to the subconscious mind. You are in total control the whole time. It's an amazing way to help us choose to believe something that serves us or change our behaviors.
The History of Hypnosis:
The earliest writings about trances are dated back to 1027 in the writings of Avicenna by a Persian doctor
Hypnosis was used in both Ancient India and Ancient Egypt

Reiki
What is Reiki?:
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing that uses universal life force energy.
Reiki practitioners use their hands to transfer this universal life force energy in order to encourage healing.
The History of Reiki:
1920s- Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese scholar, ended up in Buddhist monastery and meditated for 21 days. He thought he would die but on the 21st day a light show showing symbols. He tripped down the mountain and hurt himself and he felt heat in his hands and use it to heal himself.
1927–1928 - Dr Hayashi - Former Dr in the Japanese Navy who learned from Dr Usi opens his clinic.
1950s - Hawayo Takata - was visiting relatives in Japan, got sick and went to Dr Hayashi to heal. Lived with him to learn and then went to Hawaii and opened a clinic. Started teaching in Canada and U.S in the 70s
